I don' really recall how it began. But one morning about 4 months ago I got up in the early morning darkness, fed MaChree, and sat to reflect with a cup of tea. Then came an idea...my friend Gabrielle Uhlein had given me a few gel pens, and I already
had some black paper, which I had just come upon the day before. I needed to play, to open the day without an agenda...thus began an almost daily morning practice of drawing on black paper. This is the result: Below are a few more samples.
I find
it very satisfying to take a few minutes to do this every day. I don't think ahead of what I will draw. I let it emerge. That way, I experience the immediate emergence of whatever comes. Sometimes I like it; sometimes I don't. Always I am surprised.
